The current Academy captain being a case in point - brilliant at county level etc etc.
I think, regardless of her bowling contribution, Elwiss has to be thought of as a batsman - which means she could replace an out and out batsmen (and I'm glad you included pure batsmen in your list of those that might feel the pressure). Not only did she score runs, she scored them fast and that is a rare commodity at the moment in the England setup.
At least a few of those in Dubai have cranked up the pressure a bit.The Clangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04760786835721279059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4896684740062197881.post-85604886274811551512015-04-07T21:29:13.811+01:002015-04-07T21:29:13.811+01:00The mass media want a successful national side to ...The mass media want a successful national side to increase participation and in turn the profile of the game, Those closer to women's cricket want to see the team evolve and keep pace with the Australians. The selectors have some tough / brave decisions to make but the media focus will be on the short term Ashes success, not the next generation of English women cricketers. It just goes to show how well Australia have done in coaching young girls, with all these teens coming through who look like they're up to the top standard. They don't even need to have much experience in competitive cricket recently to more than compete with us. They may well go on to push the standards on some more in future years. This might not necessarily be good for England in the near future, but will surely benefit women's cricket in the long term.

Any result we can get against the Shooting Stars would be a good achievement, even just one more win. Having said that it's a shame that a couple more of our established players haven't stepped up with really strong performances yet. You're certainly right that a few places are up for grabs in the coming months! Let's hope we see Elwiss and Wilson getting a chance in the senior team as it sounds like they deserve it. Performances in this series will put players in the shop window but showing form in the first few weeks of the county championship (and any England Squad sessions) will be more important than ever. Interesting times...Bazzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07003969620066540447noreply@blogger.com
