WCB T20I Team Rankings

15th April 2016
So the Women's World T20 is done! West Indies, against all the odds, are the new WWT20 Champions!!

We have fed all the WWT20 games into our WCB T20I Team Rankings spreadsheet, and removed any games prior to 1st April 2012, and the result is as below.

England have returned to the top of the table and New Zealand have dropped from 1st to third, leaving the Aussies in second, but it is all very tight between the top three, which is probably what the WWT20 showed us. The West Indies have improved their WCB Score and are within a whisker of overtaking India into 4th spot, but they are still a long way behind the top three. This reflects the fact that their T20 form over the past four years has been pretty sketchy. The question is can they build on their WWT20 triumph and continue the climb up the table, and win back to back WWT20s when they host the competition in 2018?

9th March 2016
After a plethora of recent T20 series in the build-up to the WWT20 in India, it is New Zealand who now top of the WCB T20I Standings, having beaten Australia 2-1 in their recent series. It was Australia's third T20 series defeat in a row (they also lost to England and India).
New Zealand have also benefited through the monthly update to the table, which has removed a string of defeats which occurred in February 2012. They now fall outside the four year period over which the table is calculated, improving New Zealand's standing in the table.

T20 Team Rankings as at 9th March 2016
Recent results included are:-
South Africa v England (1-2)
India v Sri Lanka (3-0)
New Zealand v Australia (2-1)
South Africa v West Indies (2-1)

Forthcoming series :-
March - Women's World T20 Cup in India

------------------

31st January 2016India's stunning and unexpected 2-1 series win over the Aussies has moved them up from 5th in the WCB T20I Team Rankings to 4th, and deprived Australia of the opportunity of taking top-spot from England. With the Women's World T20 just around the corner, and with India as hosts, they could not be finding T20 form at any better time. Australia with four losses in their last six IT20 games (against England and India) have slipped further behind leaders England, who have a three match series with South Africa starting on 7th February.

Ahead of the WWT20 India have a home series against Sri Lanka, which could further improve their WCB Score. Third placed New Zealand have a tough series against Australia coming up, so you would expect the gap between India and New Zealand to close. But West Indies, who play South Africa after England have departed, will be close on their heels.

New Zealand have completed a 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka in their T20 series and as a result they have secured their position at number three in the WCB T20I Team Rankings moving up from 358 points to 383. They still have a way to go to catch up with Australia in second place, but they will have their chance in February next year when the two sides meet.

But for Sri Lanka their miserable tour meant a drop of two places from 6th to 8th as their points went down from 215 to 199, four points behind South Africa and three behind Pakistan
