DeleteIntrigued by your no. 7. If they are anything like last time I saw them, I have never seen a team enjoy playing the sport so much, even when on the wrong end of the result. A win is in many ways what they deserve having had so many problems in the recent past both on and off the pitch.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the tournament will make Chloe Tryon's name with the wider cricket watching public in a similar way that the 2010 edition did for Dottin, perhaps even more so, given the whole tournament will be televised this time.
ReplyDeleteI like Campbelle, but I think the Windies star player will be Matthews. After making her maiden ODI hundred and her first home fifty in T20Is recently, it seems like she's about to step up and become the consistent elite player we've all hoped she'd be. Additional prediction for Matthews - I think after being the Windies star player in this tournament, she'll follow it with by far her best WBBL season.
Agree this will be the tournament Sciver will show she's just as a good a T20I player as she is in ODIs.
Regarding NZ, IMO whoever wins the opening match of the tournament (NZ v IND) will be the second semi-finalist from that group. Really tough match to call.
Which Mandhana we get will be interesting. If she's on a good run of form, I think she'll be the first woman to score 300+ runs at a single edition of the WT20, and that'll be India's best chance of making the final. If not, I don't think they'll make it out of the group stage. IMO Poonam Yadav will be their best bowler.
Not that it'll matter either way though, because unless something truly remarkable happens, I can't see past Australia for the trophy, regardless of who they meet in the final.
Difficult to predict who will be AUS star player, because they have so many potential candidates (which is why they'll be champions IMO). I'll go with Haynes.
